LIL' OTTER LEARN TO PLAY (Ages 5-9)

The Little Otter learn to play hockey is a shared program between the Brownstown Sports Center and Downriver Hockey Club. 

The program is designed to introduce new players to hockey in a fun environment.   The players will learn proper stance, falling down and getting up, skating, stopping, passing, and shooting all while in a hockey setting. 

Once your player has gone through our learn to skate program the next steps would be to sign them up to play on a  6u / 8u  hockey team.

• Age Appropriate training 
• Instructed by Brownstown Sports Center Staff
• Beginning step for players who have interest in becoming a hockey player

The Cost for the entire 24 week season is 155.00

Note* cost includes all ice time, and jerseys*

50 minute Station based skill session, Saturdays from 11:15 am -12:05 pm

Dates:

September: 8th (Jersey Day), 15th (Picture Day), 22nd, 29th

October: 6th (Girls Try Hockey), 13th, 20th, 27th

November: 3rd, 10th (Bring a friend Day to try hockey), 17th

December: 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd (Skate with Santa!!!)

January: 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th

February: 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd

March: 2nd, 9th, 16th - Last day of classes (Bring a friend day to try hockey)

Lil Otters will need the following equipment by first date:

• Copy of birth certificate 
• Protective cup
• Garter belt or hockey shorts
• Shin guards
• Hockey Socks
• Hockey pants  
• Hockey skates
• Shoulder pads
• Elbow pads
• Lil' Otter Jersey
• Neck guard
• Certified hockey helmet
• Hockey gloves
• Hockey stick

*Please Note: Brownstown Sports Center  has rental skates, and  "One Goal" hockey equipment available for rent depending on availability, first come first first serve. These sets of equipment exclude skates, protective cup, garter belt/ hockey shorts,  hockey socks. Please check with the  staff for more details.

LIL' OTTER 6U

Lil Otter 6U  (Ages 4-6)

• Modeled from USA Hockey American Development Model
• Age Appropriate training

3  shared ice sessions per week with another 6u team, 50 minutes long.  2 station based skill sessions and 1 cross ice game.  ( Cross ice meaning width of the ice arena )

LIL' OTTER 8U

Lil Otter 8U  (Ages 7-8)

• Progression from Lil' Otter 6U
• Modeled from USA Hockey American Development Model
• Age Appropriate training 

3  shared ice sessions per week with another 8u team, 50 minutes long.  2 station based skill sessions and 1 half ice game.  ( Half ice meaning half the length of the ice arena )
